THE POWER OF A "NO"

One of the major challenges we are facing today is the incapacity to say ‘No’. We have all seen ‘No’ as a negative word which is not supposed to be so. The truth is that ‘No’ is as important as ‘Yes’.

Today we see ladies say ‘Yes’ to guys not because they like the guy nor they are interested in the relationship but because they cant just say ‘No’, of course this is an evidence of inferiority complex{low self esteem}.

‘NO’ doesn’t mea n ‘NEVER’, it only means that it is not the right time or thing, they are two different things. ‘No’ is temporal while ‘NEVER’ is forever. E.Stanley Jones said, “Your capacity to say No determines your ability to say YES to greater things”. Sometimes we just have to say no to some things especially those things that contradict our values and principles.

We have to say NO to sex out side the marriage environment, we have to say NO to drug addiction, we have to say NO to untimely & wrong relationships, we have to say NO to sin generally. And sometimes we have to say NO to things that are not our priorities. And if you are said NO to, it doesn’t bring the world to an end. I say to myself that any body that says NO to me does not deserve me at that particular time.

NO is an indication of a good will-power. Robert McKain said: “The reason most goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first”. Say YES to your priorities and NO to non-important things. First things first. Ninety five percent of achieving any thing is knowing what you want. John C. Maxwell quipped and I will close with it, “All leaders have learnt to say NO to good in order to say YES to the best”
